Dallas was so glad he was finally finished with his last class for the week. Not only that but he also had gotten the night off at the restaurant. It wasn’t that he didn’t love waiting tables at the diner, in all honesty he actually liked it, but he really need to start working on some new lyrics for the band. He had a few lines here and there but nothing too substantial. He was coming close to his deadline for the opportunity to play at a small local venue as the opening band. He had yet to tell his brother and cousin about the potential gig yet. He wanted it to be a surprise for them. Since moving out here they haven’t had much luck with their music and getting the chance to perform. Most people complaining their music was too “high school” which Dallas could somewhat understand. After all he was the youngest and he was twenty-one. Dallas needed to find some muse.
After class let out Dally made his way back to his dorm he said a quick hello to his roommate before grabbing his guitar case and heading back out the door. Dallas was determined to finish at least one song tonight. He knew if he stuck around his dorm though he wouldn’t get anything done, he needed to be out in the fresh air. Dallas found a nice little nook on the outside wall of the university and figured it’d be as good as he was going to get, the ground was still a little wet from the rain they had gotten a few days ago. A smile came to his face as soon as he opened up his case, his guitar had that affect on him. He pulled it out along with his lyric sheets of what he had already accomplished. He started strumming to the beat of the lyrics letting it all fall into place…
“On the edge of something real I have a choice, but I don't know what to feel Getting tired of all this fear Before I choose, let me know that you'll be here Let me know that you'll be here Cause I'm not afraid to fall…”

Sam had been experiencing a lot of stress in the past few weeks. She had been trying to juggle taking a class or two at the university and attend all of her promotional events for charities and performances. She felt like she had been running on empty, especially since she couldn't see Ryan much because of the tabloids. The morning had brought sun and for some reason she felt energized and happy for the first time in over a week. Using this energy to her advantage, she had decided to take a walk outside on the grass and enjoy the beautiful weather, bringing her guitar along just in case she felt the need to play. She twirled around between the trees, singing along pretty loudly to one of her favorite songs she had written. "Drop everything now Meet me in the pouring rain Kiss me on the sidewalk Take away the pain 'cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile Get me with those green eyes, baby, as the lights go down Give me something that'll haunt me when you're not around 'cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile" She had been dancing around one of the trees, swinging her hips around playfully, when she saw a guy sitting on the outside wall and immediately blushed. She hadn't realized anyone was around. She heard him singing beautiful lyrics and she immediately was intrigued. "Is he a performer?" she thought to herself, listening in on his lyrics. She didn't want to intrude so she sat under the tree she had been twirling around and pulled out her acoustic guitar. "Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead-end street Faster than the wind, passionate as sin ending so suddenly Loving him is like trying to change your mind once you're already flying through the free fall Like the colors in autumn, so bright just before they lose it all
Losing him was blue like I'd never known Missing him was dark grey all alone Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met But loving him was red Loving him was red"

Dallas picked up his pen hurrying to write down the next line that came to him. Thinking out loud as he wrote. “If you're the one who catches me, tell me that you'll be there when I'm about to lose it all.” He spoke as he wrote it down in his book and smiled. Finally things were starting to come together he thought as he smiled down at his paper reading in through in his head. Moments like this is what made him love the idea of writing his own music because of the accomplished feeling he got every time he added another line. As Dallas looked up suddenly, he had been under the influence he had been alone but from the sound of it he was mistaken. He looked up trying to spot where the sound was coming from. Squinting slightly he finally made out a girl sitting under a nearby tree strumming her guitar and singing. She had an amazing voice as he listened to her melody. She had a familiar sound to her voice though. Had he heard her play before? He had wondered. He tried squinting harder to get a better look but couldn’t make much more out other than that she was a blonde. He knew he should have brought his glasses with him, he thought to himself. After a few minutes the thought was killing him, who was it? Dallas closed up his book and grabbed his guitar and made his way towards the girl. Dallas moved quietly trying not to cause a lot of attention as he moved closer. He didn’t want to disturb her or even more so startle her. Dallas had never been good at approaching people especially when he didn’t know them. He was cool and slick like his brother and wasn’t a confident goofball like his cousin was, he was Dallas, the shy one. The closer he got the more he felt like he recognized her from somewhere but couldn’t think of where. ‘Be cool Dallas.’ He thought to himself. He still couldn’t figure out if she noticed his presence as he leaned against the tree across from her as she continued singing. Wow was she good! As what sounded to be the end of the stanza approached he started clapping, figuring it was the best way to announce his presence instead of just standing there all day. “Wow, you’re really good.” He said as he continued to clap. Slowly her features seemed to come together and he couldn’t help but feel like he should KNOW who this was, it had to be on the tip on his tongue.

Sam had been strumming her guitar when she heard the guy's voice which made her jump a little bit out of surprise. She hadn't expected him to come over that quickly to her. "Well thank you," she said with a small smile. This guy was cute. She had listened to his lyrics as well and knew he was good simply from the few words she had heard him say. She motioned with her head to his guitar, "How long have you been playing?"She could tell he had a decent amount of experience just from how he was able to utilize the different parts of the guitar as he played. It was intriguing, hearing him play. It made her wonder if he played in a band or whether he was a solo artist. Sam had spent one night at a local performance space and thought she recognized this guy from there but she wasn't sure. Being who she was, she had met a lot of different people over the months of her being in the business.
