[style=width:400px; height:200px; background-image:url('http://i711.photobucket.com/albums/ww117/KaylaLovesMusic_2009/erika/Untitled-30.png');] She was tired of her shitty little apartment already tonight. She had no room for anything and had to keep all her shit in one of those garages. She knew the owner and he knew her situation and let her keep everything there for no rent at all. Too bad she didn't know a guy who owned an apartment complex that was nicer than this; actually, as she looked around as she sat on her holey chair, underneath a bridge was probably better than this. She sighed as she flailed her body across the chair, looking up at her ceiling, crawling with bugs. She shook her head, and decided to get out of the apartment for the rest of the night. She could crash on the beach or something. The red head stepped outside of her apartment door to see what the weather was like tonight, apparently it was highly warm. She threw on a pair of jean shorts and a tank top, of course putting on some shoes and headed out. She thought about the places around to go but there wasn't much a nineteen year old could do around LA. She could go to work and get in no problem, but they wouldn't let her drink; just sit around and do nothing.
Dakota made her way to the beach and sat down in the sand. She pulled her curly hair back into a pony tail and slipped off her shoes, placing her cellphone into the right one to make sure she didn't loose it. She flopped down into the sand and enjoyed every second of it. The sand was just luke warm because the sun had just set about a half an hour ago. The nineteen year old popped up and walked towards the beach, letting her feet wade in the water. The breeze felt nice on her pale body and she could just stay like this forever. She back up to where the water only hit her feet with the waves coming in and took a seat so her clothes wouldn't get wet, but her feet still would. The only thing that had been running through her mind was what that dumb lady doctor had told her not but a few weeks ago. She hated kids, but knowing the fact that she just couldn't have them, kinda killed her inside. She had never planned on having kids, but the feelings change knowing that it wasn't her choice anymore. It's like getting a right taken away or something. It was awful and painful.
She curled up and set her chin on her knees and let out a heavy sigh. She hadn't told anyone the secret; that's what a secret was about. Sure, she had a very few close friends that she could tell, but she didn't think that anyone needed to know her business. Not even her adoptive parents. They were no help to her. She did feel bad though, for not telling her one actual friend though. Theo had always been there and treated her like a little sister, but hey, they had the same view points on kids, so he probably wouldn't understand why she would be upset about this news. So, she just kept it to herself and didn't worry about anyone else. Pretty much how she had been for her whole life.

life's for the living theo had been sitting in his apartment for quite some time. he looked over the gorgeous view of downtown LA he had. the skyline was built up high by all the apartments and business buildings. he had never seen such a promising city. most people said LA was the city of lost dreams since most people who came here sold everything to make it big. theo was born into this mess of a city and his parents were already famous for their clothing designs. he was what everything thought of as "blessed" --he didn't think so. he was damned here, he had no self worth and no one knew who he was unless he was published in that sleazy gossip column. theo scoffed at the window and turned away from the skyline. it was starting to get dark and he would soon have to head out to make his nightly runs to parties. he would have to pack his bag and blend into the night.
theo grabbed all his supplies and his phone was ringing off the charts from people wanting him there right away. as far as he was concerned they could wait a couple more hours. he put his phone to silent and quickly texted dakota where she was. he had been really busy lately and she seemed distant from the last phone call from earlier today. he was growing... concerned? was that the right emotion? he wasn't sure.. all he knew was that he wanted to see if she was okay before going out tonight. it seemed like she really needed a friend. his phone lit up, she sent back a quick message "beach." theo stuffed his phone in his shorts pocket and his keys as well and headed out the door.
he caught a cab, he was quite far from the beach and dakota lived just a short walk away. he was jealous because she was so close to the calm waters. theo got there in less than ten minutes and paid the driver. he took off his shoes when he reached the sand, he slung his backpack over his shoulder and kept walking. the bag was kinda heavy but nothing he couldn't handle. it would soon be empty by the end of the night. he saw a bright red ponytail of curls and knew he had found dakota. theo ran towards her, "hey." he said in a low tone, careful not to startle her. he bent down and sat next to her, moving his bag to his side. "you sounded weird today... are you.. okay?" he asked, not really sure how to start this conversation. "i mean i could be totally wrong but most times when girls say they're "just okay" it means bad news." theo shrugged and looked out towards the water.

[style=width:400px; height:200px; background-image:url('http://i711.photobucket.com/albums/ww117/KaylaLovesMusic_2009/erika/Untitled-30.png');] She didn't mind this whole being alone thing of course; she had been that way since birth. Her parents left her at an orphanage for gods sake. How unwanted could you feel after knowing this simple fact that the people who made you, didn't want you. She felt like Frankenstein for years, but her adoptive parents tried to help her out. But after years of attempting to make her feel better, they kind of gave up on that little escapade though. She didn't mind of course, at least Theo always had her back. Speaking of the devil, her phone went off and she scurried over to read the text from him. She just texted back that she was at the beach. He had been busy lately, or so it had seemed. Maybe he had finally come to his senses and got tired of her finally. She wouldn't be surprised, most everyone does in the end. Her parents were tired after an hour of her, her adoptive parents kicked her out to the streets when she turned eighteen, and well, it was only a matter of time before her teachers kicked her outta their classes during college.
She went ahead and sat back in her spot she was just in, next to the water. She stuck her feet out and leaned back on her arms. Depending on whether he walked, stopped by a party first, or got a cab, she had no idea when Theo would end up getting here. She thought about telling him about what the doctor had told her. She had only gone in because she had been late on her period and had sex about a month ago. Good news was she wasn't pregnant. Dakota still wasn't sure how to take the news though. Was it good or bad news? Maybe she would just say she had some news and call it neither; try and keep feelings out of it. The girl didn't like feelings, which is why she didn't like relationships. Well, commitment at least. She wasn't scared, more startled than anything, when she heard Theo's voice beside her. SHe grinned, "Hey." Theo sat dwn beside her; with a bag on him. She already knew what it was filled with; it was Theo we were talking about here.
He asked about her which wasn't exactly like him. He cared about her, but asking if she was okay or not wasn't really on his to-do list when they talked. They normally argued about something so tiny that it probably seemed stupid to other people around. But hey, that's just how they were; almost like siblings. "Yeah. No. I'm good. Just hanging around LA, working a lot and school work." She tried to keep her voice straight with no shake. She wasn't sure if she had succeeded or not because she was worried about telling him. Her main concern was why she had been so upset about it. You would think that someone like her, who slept around, would rejoice at the fact that she couldn't have a kid. Dakota still didn't know how to react properly to it though. So many mixed emotions right now that she wasn't sure how to organize her thoughts.

life's for the living theo was used to acting solo, his parents had pretty much banished him because he dropped out of college. he had barely made it through highschool, what made them think he would do good in college? he had no clue who planted that idea in their mind. by the stroke of luck theo was a good looking chap and was quite photogenic. his tattoo's went beautifully with his parent's clothing line that was more of a punk-fashion. they had decided it was best if he become a model for their company so he would have something to do with his life. he had moved out when he was 18, he had more than enough money to support himself. his parents didn't know their own son was out late doing awful things. they thought he was still a decent young adult, when reality he was a wreck. he wanted his parents to stay oblivious to all his misdeeds, the last thing he needed was them saying he needed to move back in with them.
theo sat down next to his bestfriend since birthday practically and sighed, he wasn't used to having heart to hearts. he could probably count on one hand how many heart to hearts he shared with dakota. they usually ended up arguing over the little things but it was how their friendship worked. they would squabble over the tiniest things and that's what kept things interesting. he spent most of his time with dakota, even more than his parents. theo listened to dakota speak, her voice was on the verge of breaking in some parts of the sentence but he ignored it. if she said she was fine then he was sure she was alright. "you know you don't have to work.. i have more than enough to help you out." theo said, "if you stopped being so dang stubborn all the time and actually take it." he said this sentence under his breath. theo squinted his eyes towards the ocean and took in the fresh air. his phone vibrated in his pocket, he ignored it.. his clients could wait, this was more important. "are you sure you're alright? the other day i called you and you sounded so... weird. you didn't even argue with me when i asked you if it's okay we eat at george's.. and you don't really like george's." theo pressed on. he was usually a liar or a controlling person but around dakota he tried not to lie. it was a nasty habit of his but he knew she would kill him if he ever did that to her ... literally.

[style=width:400px; height:200px; background-image:url('http://i711.photobucket.com/albums/ww117/KaylaLovesMusic_2009/erika/Untitled-30.png');] She wasn't sure why this had to be such a big deal. Honestly, she wished he would stop bugging her about the subject already. And this time, she was actually talking about the money issue that they bickered most about. She shook her head, rolled her eyes, her normal response to the start of this argument. "No way. I am not taking money from you. This girl does not accept charity." She smiled though, she could never actually be mad at Theo for something. Except lying. She would literally beat the shit out of him, and he was aware of that as well and tended not to lie around her; well, to her. He lied around her all the time. "I don't know why you keep trying to push your dirty money on me? The only time I'll accept just a tiny amount of cash is my birthday." And even then, she wouldn't take more than one hundred dollars from him. A few years back, he tried to move her into a new apartment complex that she couldn't even afford in her own dreams. Obviously, she turned it down and gave him a limit of one hundred dollars per birthday and that was it. No gifts on Christmas either. That's just the way Dakota was; she wasn't about to take advantage of people, well, just Theo though. She would take advantage of dumb people of course.
However, it was now back to the other dreaded conversation. The red head had been acting weird for the past couple of weeks because of the most recent news and Theo was bound to notice sooner or later. She supposed he had probably noticed earlier than now, but probably thought it would blow over. Hell, she thought it would blow over after a few days. She tried not to sigh, that would just bring on more reason for him to ask questions. She thought of a way to get out of this though; she was excellent at diverging from a conversation. Distractions, drastically changing the subject. You name it, she's done it. She bit her lower lip, looked around, poked his side and ran off, "Tag! You're it!" She ran off a few feet, not too far though. She sucked at running and knew that he would catch her within a minute or less, but at least it gave her some time at least.
She walked out in the ocean, just enough so the water went up to her knees. Her shorts were pretty short so she could probably walk a few more steps before her shorts were under the water. After all these years of knowing Theo, she had never actually seen him in the water. Probably becuase whenever they went out, they went to eat or to the park. While she waited for Theo to make a move, she re-did her hair, just putting it back in a messy pony tail. Dakota had to decide within these next few seconds whether or not she would tell him or not. She could keep diverting the subject for the rest of her life, or just tell him. While diverting sounded so much more fun, telling him would be just easier. Eh. We shall see.

life's for the living if there was one thing theo and dakota shared in common it was their stubbornness. she was very stubborn when it came to the fact about his money. he felt bad because his family was swimming in it and his drug money was more than enough. his parents didn't know about theo's current career so they still supplied him money, the kid was loaded and he just wanted to help out his bestfriend. he couldn't help her out emotionally as much since he didn't really understand girls... so financially he wanted to help. theo sighed, "still stubborn as hell, fine so be it." theo flicked his hand in a fluid motion and turned his head away for a second. if she wouldn't take it, that was fine with him. "i hate that stupid 'birthday-money-limit' you put on me, like who the hell gives a birthday limit?" theo asked arching a brow, he really hadn't heard of it.. but only dakota would think of something like that. he even tried pushing her into a brand new apartment building that he had paid a years worth of rent for. her current apartment was awful and he really didn't like her staying there. theo was very brotherly towards her and often times babied her.
theo had noticed dakota was off for a week or two, maybe it was her lady time. he never really knew when she was on it but sometime's she got really bitchy, more than usual too. he assumed it was that reason and he should just ignore it. if she didn't want to tell him, chances were it was that reason. his thoughts were suddenly interrupted when dakota tapped his shoulder and tagging him. theo watched her run a few feet, he looked down to the sand and chuckled. then raised his head back up to give her a playful smile. "oh you're asking for it now!" theo yelled over to her, he got up and dropped his bag on the beach. he was sure no one would take it.
theo got up and ran towards dakota, she wasn't very fast but maybe because theo was a good runner. "gotcha!" theo said tagging her and then running a few feet away from her once again. "aw, do you give up already? it's okay honey, i know running isn't your forte." theo teased putting his hands on his face and running them down from his eyes to his chin, a symbol for metaphorically crying. theo's breath came out in small pants, "did your parents call you about dinner on saturday? my parents left me a voicemail and i didn't call back yet, i'm only going if you are." theo said between small pants. he was still up for playing the game but his parents had been pushing him to come to dinner with them and dakota's parents. dinner with their parents sounded like a bore.

[style=width:400px; height:200px; background-image:url('http://i711.photobucket.com/albums/ww117/KaylaLovesMusic_2009/erika/Untitled-30.png');] dakota was highly aware of her friend's current financial situation and how loaded he was. but, she just couldn't take money from him. she's all for being a bitch and trying to con people out of their cash, however, theo was different. and not in the sort of different like she would feel bad either. he had been there for her through some tough times, so it just wouldn't sit well with her if she just took his money without some type of work effort to put forth. she could join his business, but knowing her luck, she'd get caught with a substantial amount of pot on her and get sent to jail for the rest of her life or something. so, she'd stick with the waitressing/bartender gig for now. once she graduated college, she would get a well-paying job and just hopefully be good from there. she didn't plan on having any type of family because well, it was just a lot more simple with her and no one else. she kind of guessed theo was sort of like a brother, but that was about it. "well, if i wasn't stubborn about it, i'd be living in some five star apartment thing where they only thing i could afford to pay is the water. maybe not even that." her voice inflection was so sarcastic and true at the same time, she thought her head was going to implode. she grinned when he mentioned the birthday limit thing, "i give birthday limits. at least i allow you to get me something on my birthday and it's not like christmas." she knew that her living situation sucked and under a bridge would be ten times better, but hey, gotta start off somewhere, right?
the whole tag idea was brilliant. it kept theo busy and out of her hair, well, not literally of course, of her other business. she did feel bad for not telling him, but what could he do to make her feel better though? nothing. that's why it was her business and not his. she saw him drop the bag and she just picked up speed by a little bit. if she ran any faster, she'd probably end up tripping over herself and falling on her face. at least it was just sand and not cement or anything. like she guessed, he caught up to her fairly quickly and tapped her and ran in front of her. "pssh. i never give up." although her somewhat fast run had now decreased to a mild walk, not even a jog to attempt to catch back up to him. but he was totally right about the whole giving up thing, even though she still wanted to at least catch up to him one more time to say that she did. "uh, no. phil and nancy hate me and don't provide me with anything and don't tell me anything." she rolled her eyes at her adoptive parents attitudes. if they didn't want a kid to begin with, why adopt one and act like you love them for a few years then just kick them out once they're eighteen. "they'll probably call saturday and be all like 'wah wah wah dinner tonight and be there'."
dakota didn't much care for eating dinner with other people. why do you think she lived alone? the general population pretty much pissed her off anyways, and her adoptive parents made it a goal and their job to do it twenty times worse. she shrugged her tiny shoulders, "we should like, show up, but then leave before we actually eat. just to say that we went." they said to "come"; they didn't state for how long they had to stay. see, that's what the red head was good at. twisting words and coming up with a whole new scenario for things. "then we can go out and do something fun. i might be able to convince my manager to let us in the bar after they close and have a few drinks." her two favorite things: after hours and alcohol. dakota was good when it came to drinking though; she knew her limit and knew it well. even with the different types surrounding her. she wasn't the dumb girl who thought she was okay, even though she wasn't. once she started to feel her "stages" of tipsy-ness, depending on the drink, she had about three left before she hit drunk dakota. and drunk dakota is honest dakota. she found that out the hard way. spilling the beans to some douche at a bar wasn't exactly her way of spending a saturday night, but it happened and she will never let that happen again.

life's for the living the drug business was something that theo never intentionally wanted to get into. he just got pushed into it by his friends and eventually they all dropped it because of the police and their parents. theo was the only one still kicking around and still snaking around the city. he knew l.a. like the back of his hand and he intended on taking it by storm. he had always wanted a partner to help him out but he still hadn't found anyone he could trust yet. he wondered if he should ask dakota, with her luck they'd both be behind bars before she even went to her first client. she was the only person on this earth he could fully trust but he really didn't want her to get into trouble. theo was still shocked they stayed friends through everything, they had been through so much. "if only i could get you into a five star apartment... even if i blind folded you and you didn't smell a whiff of mold you'd know something was wrong with the place." theo rolled his eyes, she was stubborn but it was just the way she was. he wouldn't have it any other way. "women, so impossible." theo said shaking his head from side to side and pressing a couple fingers against his forehead. "fine a birthday limit is better than no birthday gift at all." theo said exasperated.
theo didn't mind playing tag, infact it made him feel like a kid again. he knew that dakota just did it to change the subject. if she didn't want to talk about it, he would drop it. he quickly caught up to her and tagged her, it was no sweat for him to keep up with her. he had done enough running from the cops to keep in shape. theo had only heard bits and pieces of her relationship with her adoptive parents. even if they didn't like her he saw no reason why they should... she had done nothing wrong, infact, they were the ones who adopted her. "my parents told me to invite you if they didn't." theo shrugged, he really didn't want her to feel left out. "yeah my parents will call every hour on saturday and be like 'theodore allen gray, you come to dinner this instance or you're moving back in blah blah blah'" theodore did the best impression of his moms nagging voice and made a duck figure with his hand and made the mouth move up and down as he spoke.
theo didn't want to go to dinner anymore than dakota but knowing their parents, they would gossip about them if they weren't there. "that's the best thing you have ever said in your entire life." theo said chuckling, "brilliant." theo said a little more softly, he wished he was that clever.. the truth was theo wasn't much for brilliance, all the drinking and drugs had basically wiped out most of his brain cells.. "you better convince him or i might have something in my bag that might convince him a bit better.." theo raised an eyebrow and turned his head to motion to his backpack which was a few feet away. "i sold to him a while ago." he shrugged, he probably liked what he got since he had called him earlier this week for another meeting. "i think you're mistaken though, only a few drinks? that's not like us at all." theo laughed.
