Broke was a party girl but she had nothing on Blair, not anymore, not now she was with Riley and a little more sensible, that aside Brooke had drank even more than Blair and she didn't blame the girl, drinking your feelings away was Blair's old trick, it what she did when anything bad happened, she called up her girlfriends, rally as many as she could and went out partying until she had to be carried home. It wasn't like she did it a lot or anything most of the time she drank to have fun but when she did it wasn't a pretty sight. Her entry to Brooke's room hadn't been greeted with open arms from the grunts about light as the brunette of the two Bee's hid under the covers. "Lightweight, I'll just leave these here then. I'm going the mall" she needed to get a new dress for the party she was organizing that night, this events management wasn't a cheap business she had to have a new outfit for each and every event, well, she didn't have to but with her pride she did.
On her way out she considered picking up her car keys but thought it probably best she didn't drive just yet, not until this hangover died down a little, she was pretty sure she was still over the limit. So instead she walked, it wasn't that far and it was as nice of a day as any in late spring cali weather, not that normal sweltering hot that summer brought, but a bearable heat with a nice breeze to take the edge off. It took her about 20 minutes before she arrived at the mall okay, ignore the pretty jewelry store, straight to get the dress and straight back' she mentally told herself. She had a bad habit og vearing off her mission and buying things she didn't need and couldn't really afford. She managed to go from shop to shop until she found the perfect dress for the nights party and was proud she'd managed not to buy anything else, but it was on her way out that she lost her resolved and ended up with her eyes peering at a pretty silver necklace in the jewelers. Begin the inner turmoil argument of whether to buy or not. 'it would look so cute with.... no blair, its like half a months pay check...' this discussion went on for a while before she managed to drag herself, backwards away from the glass she'd only made it a couple of steps backwards when she hit into someone "Oh my god I am so..." she stopped in her apology as she saw who it was "Riley." her tone wasn't exactly her friendliest but his names wasn't said in the harshest tone she saved for Alex.

Today was another day of being lonely. After hanging out with Alex, Riley hailed a cab, and went back to the house that he and Brooke used to share, but now it seemed too lonely for him. Even if him and Brooke were fighting, there was at least some noise in the house, but with just him in it, it just made Riley even less lonely, even if he liked being alone sometimes. Knowing Alex was probably sleeping off what happened, Riley just headed out by himself, heading into the direction of the shopping centers. Putting on a hat and a pair of sunglasses, he made his way into the mall unnoticed, which was fine by him. He didn't want to make a scene, especially when he wanted to be alone, and think about his relationship with Brooke, which he and her are taking a break after a nasty fight. It almost made him feel angry that he didn't trust her, when he trusted her the first time around, and always have whenever a rumor of her was on the gossip magazines and websites. I mean, she aways trusted him. Why couldn't he trust her like she trusted him?
He sighed, and realized that he wandered into a jewelry store, and no matter how attempting it was to buy a necklace, earrings, or a bracelet for Brooke, he didn't. Instead, he just looked, and whenever a salesperson wanted to know if he needed anything, he just told them no. Suddenly, someone knocked into him, and as he was about to say sorry, the person started too, but once they said "Riley", Riley knew who it was: Blair. "Hello, Blair." he said, giving her a small smile. He cursed his nice guy factor, because it seemed he couldn't be mad at anyone.

She had never really spent much time with him, at the occasional party they would be civil but the only things she really know about him was what Brookella told him. She always got the good gushie stuff and her normal reaction to that was some kind of false gag, or a yawn or a simple roll of her eyes, half of the time she tuned out when her best friend started going off about how perfect her boyfriend was. The other side of that was that Blair was also the one Brooke came to when Riley and her fought, and it seemed recently that was all they did. Even so, Blair didn't place too much judgment on much of anything Blair said about Riley, either way what she was saying was bias so Blair just kind of went along with it occasionally throwing in the sympathetic 'it's gonna be okay's and 'he still loves you' even though her view on love was that it was a load of horse shit. Brooke and Riley's relationship was a steady reminder of why she stayed away from love and all the complication that came along with it, each time she opened her door or answered her phone to Brooke crying it put the fresh memory of the pain she saw her whole family go through where her parents marriage fell apart and made her sure the way she lived her life was the right thing for her, the safe way.
This time though, Riley was in Blair's bad books, she hated to see Brooke upset but she never normally got involved but this time she felt like she needed to and the fact that he was right there, literally right under her, it seemed like fate had kicked in to make it happen. Still, she felt rude for how she had acknowledged him so she managed a soft, not too over the top smile. She was a nice person and more than reasonable when she wasn't provoked and Riley hadn't done anything to her, she should at least give him a chance to explain himself before she submitted him to her not so friendly side, the only one she showed to his best friend. "Hey, i'd say good to see you but it doesn't really feel like the right thing to say..." she told him in a lot more friendly tone than she had began with "Do you, erm, mind if we talk?" she was going to do her best so that this wasn't weird, she had never really talked to riley just him and her, the closest they'd ever been to a one on one conversation was when her and Brooke were going somewhere and Blair came to pick her up. Small talk was normally their limit. "I promise I'm not gonna jump down you're throat or anything. Or I'll at least try not to" she continued giving him a classing winning Blair smile.

Of course it had to be Blair. Of all the people he had to run into, it was Blair. Now, Riley didn't think too much of her to actually know her: he just knew her because she was Brooke's best friend, and well..that was it. He wasn't going to judge because Blair could be nice (most of the time), and being nice himself, Riley could see that she meant no harm what-so-ever. And today, Riley didn't feel like talking to anyone, not even Alex, because it was Alex who wanted Brooke and Riley to break up in the first place.
When Blair asked if they could talk, Riley was kind of surprised. Him and Blair never really talked before, and once again, he only knew Blair through Brooke. But, he gave her a small smile, and nodded. "Sure. We can talk." He really had nothing else to do, so why not? He chuckled when she said she wouldn't give him a hard time. "Well, that's good." he said. So, if it was going to be Alex that he's going to talk too, it had to Blair, apparently.

Still it just seemed odd and in some ways, Blair felt bad for it. Riley was a huge part in her friends life and she hadn't taken the time to give him the time of day. It just seemed easier to stay uninvolved in their whole thing, the less she knew Riley the easier it was to be impartial and give unbiased advice when they had their fall outs. Maybe it was too late now to change that, it seemed it may be with the what things were going recently, she knew they fought, it wasn't all that rare but recently it had been more often than not and this 'break' they were taking was a whole different thing, a whole new serious problem that she had never seen them go through before.
Blair had retracted her promise on not jumping down his throat and rephrased it because she knew how she got when things got intense, she was a good person but when she was talking about something, or someone she cared about it wasn't hard for her to get angry. She wasn't sure if this conversation was going to help or hinder but she hadn't seen Brooke this way before and she felt like she had to do something. She also had no idea what Brooke would say when she found out, maybe she'd hold off mentioning it until she saw what happened after, another thing to hide from Brooke, just great. She hated carrying secrets, she wasn't good at it, especially from Brooke but the ones she did hold back were for the best for everyone, everyone except her really. "Lets walk and talk" she made the decison and didn't really give him an option either way. Thankfully the mall was pretty dead, not that many people around so not that many people around to realize who he was. She had no idea where to start and each time she thought of something it was some kind of passive aggresive assumption. "She's a mess Riley..." that seemed like a fair start "I've never seen her like this before and I've seen her go through a lot..." she left it open then for him to maybe explain or offer some input in before she went on.
