They got along great but he got on with most of his patients and he wouldn't really say he looked forward to them in the same way, there was just something different about Mrs. Ficher that he couldn't put his finger on, or more likely, didn't want to. Deep down he knew why he looked forward to seeing her each week but the fact he found himself falling for her wasn't something he could actually think about. Not only because she was his patient and that was maybe the biggest no-no, but there was also that fact that she was married. He had been on the other side of being cheated on before so the fact he even had the underlining feelings for a married woman made him disgusted at himself, as if it was something he could help. But he couldn't, and the more he saw her the harder it was to ignore. But no matter how he ignored it and pretended the feelings weren't there, they weren't going away and that was painstakingly and constantly niggling in the back of his mind.
That day had been an easy one, it had been one of his regular offenders last day of therapy (for now) that had been a breeze of an appointment and the guy was maybe the easiest guy to talk to. His next patient was one of his favorites, little old Miss. Whisler, the spunkiest and coolest 70 year old Levi had ever met in because she put her knee out running a marathon her appointments were always a joy even if she spent the whole time winding him up and joking around and avoiding actually doing her therapy. Then he'd had his lunch and that was where he was now, talking away to his collgues over his boring ham sandwich, so deep in conversation, laughing away that he didn't notice the time flying by until the receptionist came and announced Drea had arrive "Ah crap. Send her in for me, please?" he said before stuffing what was left of the crust of his sandwich into his mouth and hurrying back to his room still with crumbs around the corners of his mouth.

Drea was a little more nervous than she should have been for her physical therapy appointment.
No, it wasn’t that she was dreading the treatment, although she always had, every appointment since she’d screwed up her knee three years ago she had dreaded. But this nervousness didn’t come from dread. It came from something else that was much, much too dangerous for her to ever admit to herself. And so, she wouldn’t. She would go see Levi because she had to and for no other reason. She would continue to do as she was supposed to and maybe soon enough she would be out of his care and wouldn’t have to worry about it anymore.
Of course, she didn’t really want to be out of his care. But aside from this unspeakable nervousness, there was another reason she felt a bit sick to her stomach about going to her appointment. Drea looked at her reflection in the mirror through teary eyes. The bruise on her cheek was still slightly visible although she had tried her best to cover it with makeup. It would only be visible to someone rather close to her face, but Levi often was close to her face. She would explain it away with taking a baseball to the eye and be done with it, just as she had explained away so many cuts and bruises before and never had any trouble with getting anyone to believe her. It was eerily easy to get people to believe her stories.
Drea blinked a few times to get rid of the tears and left her house, driving a little slower than usual to her appointment. After signing in, the receptionist told her to go back, and so she did, her breath catching in her chest. Maybe she could just make up an excuse, she could fake sick, and go back home. But her knee was aching, and she did need this session. Maybe she should have changed doctors. No, Drea wouldn’t do that, although she had thought about it many times. These sessions with Levi were the only things keeping her sane at the moment, and she wouldn’t be ending them any time soon.
“Hey, Levi,” Drea said with a bright smile, the smile of a woman who had her life together and was happy in all aspects of it.

He had, on more than one occasion got carried away with talking so much that the conversation went from the general chit-chat to real life, fairly deep things, things he would never talk to anyone about and yet he found himself so comfortable with her they spilled over to someone who was practically a stranger to him. Past the talking about things he never talked about, another problem with conversations he had with Drea was that they over ran far too often, there had been a good handful of times they had been talking away and before they knew it, someone was knocking at the door to tell him his next patient had been waiting around for a half an hour. He just got lost in it all and at the end of each appointment he wished they were so much longer. "Afternoon Drea, sorry to keep ya waiting, lost track of time over lunch, and you know what I'm like when I get to talking" he joked in his heavy southern drawl with a genuine smile that automatically planted it's self on his lips as soon as he saw her.
Just seeing her it was impossible to stop himself thinking about the unthinkable, he was a good man, a moral man and just the idea that he felt this way, denying it to himself or not, about a married woman just wasn't him. Maybe his middle brother, who was a self confessed man whore with no care in the world about what any of his conquests marital status was but for him to be thinking of Drea, and feel the way he felt when she was around was just wrong in far too many ways for his head to wrap it's self around "So, how's your knee been feeling this week? And this is a silly question but have you been resting it like I advised" it was a stupid question because he knew her answer would be either a poor attempt to lie to him, with no intention of fooling him, or a simple no. She was, patient wise, his worst nightmare, she knew what was good for her, what she should and shouldn't do but was too stubborn to take the rest from her job she needed to to let her knee actually heal properly. And as infuriating as that should have been for him as her therapist, he found it was just another he reason he liked her and her dedication.

"Afternoon Drea, sorry to keep ya waiting, lost track of time over lunch, and you know what I'm like when I get to talking.”
Drea laughed along with his joke. ”No need to explain,” she said. ”I know all too well.” It had been more than one occasion that their conversation had been cut short by a knock at the door signaling that Drea’s time was over. And of course, the two of them never saw each other outside the office. That would be inappropriate. It was a shame, really, that they couldn’t be real friends, couldn’t see each other out of this stuffy, professional setting. But Drea would never do anything to put Levi in danger, and befriending him further would only make Dallas angry, should he find out. And Drea knew what he was capable of when he was angry.
"So, how's your knee been feeling this week? And this is a silly question but have you been resting it like I advised?”
”It’s been a little stiff, but mostly fine,” she fibbed. Drea was never honest about her pain level. She liked to downplay everything. After all, her pain tolerance was fairly high. When he asked if she had been resting it, Drea could only smirk and roll her eyes playfully. ”This is my job, Levi. The way I earn my living. I can’t rest it. Besides, I just got cast as the lead in Swan Lake!” This was something Drea was especially proud of and excited for, but the extra-long rehearsals were really getting to her. Drea knew that she was a terrible patient, basically never doing anything Levi told her. But she wasn’t going to let an old injury ruin her career. ”I have, however, been doing the exercises you gave me. And I’ve been wearing a brace for part of rehearsals like you said.” Drea smirked once more. ”See? I can follow instructions just fine.”
She sat up on the exam table so that he could examine her knee as he did at the beginning of every appointment. ”How are things, Levi?” she asked genuinely, cocking her head to one side. Work going well? How’s your family doing?” She and Levi had spent quite a bit of time swapping crazy sibling stories; Drea almost felt like she knew the rest of the Rivers family.

Had Levi worked in pretty much any other field the palpable tension between him and Drea would have been slightly easier to ignore, if say, he was her psychologist, he would know much more about her but there would be a whole room between them, no physical contact between them. Sadly, or not, that wasn't quite the case, every session Levi had with Drea there was going to be physical contact and it made ignoring the chemistry between them that much harder. It was taking more and more restraint in him to keep things professional when all he wanted to do was be, well, unprofessional. He had tried one week to be completely distant, making no real conversation and just talking about her injury, how it was feeling and so on but it had lasted maybe 10 minutes before that failed and his resolve broke. There was nothing in the rule book about not seeing patients out of work on a friend basis, he doubted it was even something that was frowned upon though he wasn't completely sure, it wasn't really work that kept Levi from seeing Drea outside of work, it was the fact that it was hard enough to keep himself under control in the work place, never mind if he threw himself into a casual situation with her. What was certainly frowned upon was something more than friendship with patients, not that that could ever happen with Levi and Drea, no matter how much he may secretly wish it was possible, she was married, he had to deal with that fact, and remind himself every few minutes whenever he was around her.
Levi had been on the other side of infidelity before, not even that long ago when his then fiance had been sleeping with his best friend for what he now knew to be a half a year. He knew the damage it caused to people and he had no want to cause that kind of pain to anyone even if he could. Finding out about Jess and Warren had almost killed him, completely broke him because he had been completely in love with her and so ready to marry her. Now he looked back and he had got over it he could see he'd had a lucky escape since he was set to be stuck in a married with her only a month after he found out about her bit on the side. He had been so blinded by how long he had been with her and how long he had loved her to see the person she really was. It wasn't the relationship that her cheating had ruined though it was the whole future he had planned for the two of them, the whole big family and a big house with a wrap around porch back in their home town. It had all been laid out in his head and that had all crumbled when he found his best friend cell phone on his bed side table when he came home early from work.
That was one subject area Levi had never touched on with Drea, it wasn't something he really talked about with anyone really, it was easier not talk about it because on the few occasions he did, it put him in one of two breeds of sour mood, either a slight depressed and miserable one, or one where he felt like punching walls and screaming about how mad she made him. Not that he had ever done that, Levi was good at keeping his emotions in check, he'd never been the type to blow a fuse and even when he was completely riled up he could come off calm and collected. He'd only ever punched a handful of people in his life, his brothers, because, well, brotherly rivalry and all of that, and Warren, that day when he had crept out of the closet when he realized he had been caught. "I'm a physio therapist, Drea, I'm not a magician, there's only so much I can do when your still working on it" he continued in his lighthearted way, he wasn't about the lecture her, he understood why she wouldn't and couldn't take the rest that he advised her to take, but it didn't change how frustrating it was, had this been his old job and had she been on the team he worked for, she would have had no choice, when he said back at the Titans was final because coaches couldn't have players out for a season simply because they didn't take out a few weeks rest. He let out a sigh about Kansas "She's hiding something, I know it, and that's why she's pushing me away." it was good talking about family around Drea, it reminded him of who he was, and how he couldn't react to his feeling with Drea, it wasn't enough to take his mind off every touch between them and the proximity of their bodies.

This was the man she was supposed to be with.
Ok, maybe not Levi exactly, but a man like this. A man with whom conversation flowed easily and laughter came freely. Of course, Drea couldn’t help but think about how things used to be that way with Dallas. Drea and Dallas seemed like a perfect match, anyone would have told you that. The way they looked at each other, like no one else had ever loved anyone as much as they loved each other. What a sick joke. It hurt Drea to think that she may be developing these feelings for Levi for several reasons. Of course, ultimately it was because she was married to a man who would kill them both. Also that she was married at all, and cheating wasn’t something that Drea would ever think she was capable of, no matter what her situation was. But it also hurt to know that she had married the wrong man and to think that the man she was supposed to be with was somewhere in the world, maybe right in this very office, waiting for her. Drea knew that Levi felt what she felt, it was almost palpable in the air, he would have to be blind, deaf, and dumb to not notice the chemistry. But Levi was just as good of a person as Drea, and for that reason, they were stuck as physical therapist and stubborn patient.
"Maybe you should check the dictionary over for the definition of fine, I have a feeling you've got it confused.” Drea sighed dramatically and smirked a bit. ”Ok, if I’m being completely honest it has been bothering me quite a bit. But Levi, really. I can’t cut back. Isn’t it your job to figure out another solution?” She raised her eyebrows at him as though he could just magically pull a solution out of thin air. She laughed a bit an answered, ”Yup, that’s the one.”
When he mentioned that this job wasn’t the NFL league, she nodded sympathetically. ”I understand.” While the LA Ballet Company was great, it would never be the New York City Ballet, a place that Drea missed with her whole being all the time. "As for family, I still have no idea what Kansas' problem all she's done since she left home is complain that we can all come visit her and now I'm in the same city it's like she's desperate to get me to leave.” Drea pursed her lips a bit. ”That’s strange. I’d do anything for my family to be closer.” She was closer to Colorado now then she had been in New York, but it was no matter. She couldn’t visit her family like this. As Levi examined her knee, Drea was painfully aware of his every movement, of how close he was to her, of his gentle touch to her knee. It was torturous.
