She was raised in Boulder, Colorado, by her mother and father, Deidre and Dylan. She has a brother, Dean, whose four years older than her and a younger sister Danielle, who’s five years younger. Dylan is a contractor while Deidre run a ski lodge. The Vaughn’s were a wealthy family, able to give their children anything they wanted. That led to the three kids being quite successful growing up. Dean was put into all kinds of sports at a young age – baseball, football, basketball, hockey. Drea was enrolled in dance classes by the time she was three years old. And Danielle was the little gymnast of the family. And of course, all three are avid skiers. Aside from being wealthy and talented, the Vaughn’s are close knit. Family comes first, which is hard to imagine with all the activities going on. No matter what, they know they can count on each other. Drea hasn’t forgotten this fact, but it’s something she’s been struggling with lately. More on that later. It was easy to tell early on that Drea had a knack for dancing. She would always pay close attention in class, even while the other little girls were running around and being a nuisance. She would come home and dance around the house, humming her own music, occasionally knocking over a lamp or a vase. Her mother and father would just laugh and comment on how cute she was. She started in a competition group at the age of seven. Deidre and Dylan never worried that they were putting too much stress on the kids – they always expected Dean, Drea, and Danielle to push themselves as far as they could go but know when to back off. So, by the time she hit high school, Drea was dancing about fifteen hours a week and loving every second of it. Yes, her body ached nearly constantly and she could hardly find time for a social life. But dancing is what made her the happiest. Drea had a lot of friends growing up. She was fun to be around and instantly started a conversation with pretty much everyone she met. The blonde had neurotic tendencies and was easily excitable, but really that just added to her loveable-ness. But don’t count her out – Drea can take care of herself. She’s fiery and independent, and loves to prove people wrong. Recent events have kind of taken the fight out of her, but it’s still in there somewhere. Drea is a bit of a perfectionist. She likes to be better than those around her – whether that be in school or dance or anything else. She keeps a neat room and is very organized as well. She graduated high school with honors and was accepted into Julliard’s dance program, something that was well publicized in her small town. So, the eighteen year old girl from the Midwest packed her bags and headed to the city that never sleeps. While she was there, she studied and danced her butt off, not intending to focus on anything else. Until the night she was persuaded into going to a club with some friends, and ran into a bunch of NYU students. That’s the night she met Dustin Fischer. First of all, he had a D name, which her parents had always joked was a must for the children’s future spouses. But aside from that, he was handsome, charming, and had the sweetest little southern accent she had ever heard. They drank, they danced, and at the end of the night, they exchanged numbers. Five months after graduation, Drea and Dustin got married in his hometown of Marietta, Georgia. The ceremony was beautiful and the honeymoon in Tahiti was even better. It could only last for a few days though, because Drea had to get back to New York. By this point, she was a principle dancer for the New York City Ballet. The newlyweds lived in a loft in New York. Drea danced, and Dustin worked, and the two were just having the time of their young lives. Two years into marriage, at the age of twenty-three, Drea got pregnant. While this may have been a dream come true for most couples, and it certainly was for Dustin, Drea wasn’t so sure. Having a baby would mess up her career completely, and she’d never really seen herself having kids until a bit later in life. But the opportunity was now, and she was raised to be against abortion. But, the baby never became an issue; three months into her pregnancy, Drea lost the baby. This is when the fighting began. Dustin blamed Drea, saying that she hadn’t been resting enough since at three months, she hadn’t taken off from the company yet. The two fought constantly, and one night, Dustin slapped her. Drea had looked up at her husband, a welt rising on her face, tears in her eyes. The look on his face? Pure shock and distress. He apologized profusely, slept on the couch that night, and made her breakfast in the morning. Drea had been able to cover up the mark with makeup so she wasn’t questioned at work the next day, and the two put the incident behind them. But it wasn’t a onetime thing – the hitting became more frequent. And it wasn’t just the physical abuse; Dustin began to grow emotionally abusive as well. He got offered a big job with a company in LA, and Drea told him she refused to move. She wouldn’t leave her spot in the New York City Ballet, and to be quite honest, she wanted out of the marriage. But boy did she regret telling her husband that. That night, she landed in the emergency room with three broken ribs and a broken nose with the excuse of a car accident. And three days later, the loft was packed up and the Fischer’s were moving to California. She’d been with the NYC Ballet for almost five years at this point, and was easily transferred into the Los Angeles Ballet, who in all honesty was ecstatic to have her. Drea knows she’s better than this. She knows she deserves more than Dustin. She deserves to be in a loving marriage where there’s no need to worry about saying the wrong thing. She also knows that her parents would help her out in any way she asked… if only they knew what was going on. But Drea was just too ashamed, and honestly a little scared to tell them. So, she’s decided to stick it out with Dustin, focus on her dancing career, and look for a way out along the way. the rper » alias: lizzy » years roleplaying: forever » other char on the site: bex cataudella-owens » where did you find us? tarnie » the keyword: i'll be your hero [/style] |
