After getting up (getting woken up from having a good dream about her and Zayden by Baylor, one of her dogs) and getting ready, Caitlyn had decided to start her day at Second Chances Adoption Center, which she serves her time seeing the dogs and the cats. Back home, she had volunteered at Helena's animal shelter, and even adopted her two dogs, Chip and Baylor, there. So, naturally, she was thrilled that Los Angeles had an animal shelter. After saying hello to the ladies that were working up in the front, she went into the back, where they kept the animals, and went to the way back, where they kept the dogs, and went in.

Dogs barked when she stepped inside, she grinned, and went down the rows (while stopping at each kennel to give some love to the dogs) until she found the dog that she was looking for. Well, it was a puppy, and it's name was Crumbs, and Caitlyn had fallen in love with Crumbs when she first saw him one day. Her grin had gotten bigger when she got to Crumbs's kennel. When Crumbs saw Caitlyn, he started to bark, and Caitlyn laughed. "Hi, Crumbs! How is my little man?"

[/color] she asked, as she lowered herself so Crumbs could lick her fingers. She didn't understand why Crumbs hadn't been adopted yet, and she would adopt him if she already didn't have two dogs at home which she loved with all of her heart. Also, her mom had said no more animals (the only way Caitlyn could have any other animals if she lived on a farm). Caitlyn opened Crumbs's kennel, and went inside. Crumbs immediately started to jump on Caitlyn, and Caitlyn laughed even harder as she started to pet Crumbs, who obviously loved the attention.

After waking up from his alarm clock going off, he quickly got ready. He was going to start his day at Second Chances Adoption Center volunteering. He needed to get his volunteer hours in so why not volunteer here? Maybe he would even find a cat or dog to take home. He had never had a pet before. After arriving, he said hello to the ladies who were working in the front and then went to where the animals were.



He could hear the dogs barking, but that didn’t really bother him too much. He stopped by each kennel, giving them come love and feeding them if he needed to. He stopped at Crumbs’s kennel, who was the cutest little puppy he had ever seen, and noticed someone already there. This girl looked familiar. He knew exactly who she was. It was Caitlyn, one of his friends. “I see he likes you,” he said with the biggest smile on his face. He watched Crumbs and Caitlyn. “Hey Caitlyn.” He sat by her and Crumbs and just looked at Crumbs. He was not expecting to see one of his friends here, but he was happy to see her. That smile on his face didn’t fade away, but stayed there.

A few people came in, and when they got to Crumbs's kennel, they looked confused as to why Caitlyn was in there. She would just give them a smile, and people would be on their way, muttering under their breath. Caitlyn often went into the kennels (she'd only go into the kennels if it was a small dog), and no one has ever found this weird. Suddenly, she looked up to see someone, and she smiled when she saw that it was Milo. "Oh, hey, Milo."

[/color] she said. She and Milo became friends after meeting at the ainal shelter one day, and Caitlyn liked him right away.

She nodded. "He does, and I seriosuly want to take him home, but my mom won't let me. She thinks two is enough, and I guess she's right."[/color] Even so, she had taken pictures of Crumbs with her phone, and even though he was one of the cutest puppies ever, her mom just said no. Caitlyn looked at Milo. "Maybe you could tkae him. I'm quite attached, but I don't think I'd want him to go with just anyone."[/color] She thanked the Lord that Second Chances didn't kill the animals that were here, and she'd cry if they didn't. But, she feels sad if some of the animals are here for a very long time.

It was weird how fast they had become friends. He found it also kind of weird that they were in the same place that they had met. He was happy that they were friends, she was a nice girl. He looked at her for a second. Caitlyn reminded him of his twin sister, but he wasn’t going to tell her that. That might be a little weird.


“Well two can be a lot to take care of. I never had a pet. My… um… mom wouldn’t let us.” He had difficulty talking about his mom. He looked down and looked a little sad when he mentioned his mother, that was when the smile had been wiped off of his face. He still couldn’t forgive her for what she had done to his family. He looked down at the puppy and smiled a bit. “I want to take him, but I would need to ask my dad and step mom first. Plus there’s a two year old and four year old in the house so I’m not sure how they would treat him.” He wasn’t sure if his dad and step mom would approve of a dog or not. “I’ve always wanted a pet though, so maybe they’ll let me take him home and care for him and love him.” He shrugged his shoulders up and down.

If Milo stumbled on the word "mom", then Caitlyn hardly noticed. If she did, it wasn't right to ask why: she never pressured anyone to say what's on their mind. Plus, she didn't think she and Milo were that good of friends, so she kept her mouth shut. She got up, and brushed off her jeans before looking at Milo. "Second Chances has a trial where you can see if the pet is right for your home...I know a lot of people who do that."

[/color] she replied, giving him a smile. "But, if you want to talk to your family, that's fine too."[/color][/b] she added.

Caitlyn thought everyone who was kind to animals should have a pet. Not ones who were mean to them, like a certain ex-boyfriend of hers. But, people like Milo who volunteered, would want one. She stepped out of Crumbs's kennel, and quickly closed the door before Crumbs could escape. He whined, and Caitlyn's heart melted. "It's okay, Crumbs. Don't worry: I'll be back."[/color] she said to the puppy.

He looked up at her as she stood up. He knew that if they were both standing that he was probably taller than her, but since he was sitting and she was standing, she was taller at this particular moment. “I know I can do that.” He gave her the cheekiest grin he could give. “I don’t think they would be too happy if I brought a puppy home without them knowing about it first. So I would rather ask them first." He would rather ask first before he got a puppy. He didn’t feel like surprising them because they may not be happy about it.

He finally stood up after a minute or so. Once standing, it did reveal that he was taller than her, but it really shouldn’t matter. He looked down at Crumbs before Caitlyn closed his kennel and it reminded him that puppies were like children, since both were so innocent and oblivious to the world. He was once a child too; a child that experienced his mother’s abuse and his parents’ divorce, and so much more than a child should have to go through. He looked and smiled again at Caitlyn.

Caitlyn blushed, and mentally slapped herself. Of course he would know about that! He worked at the animal shelter, too, didn't he? "I'm sorry. Of course you would know that..I'm sorry for talking like a know-it all."

[/color] she told him. All volunteers had to learn the rules, and if it was just them back here with the dogs, or in the cat room, they would inform people who were looking to at adopting an animal.

When Milo stood up, she learned that he was taller than her (she couldn't tell because he was sitting down), but she didn't care: most people were taller than her, and while she was at a good height, she wasn't short either. She smiled back at him. "So, I guess since I've seen all of the dogs, I thought I would be going to head to the cat room, or aren't you done?"[/color] she asled, looking at him. She always start with the dogs before seeing the cats.

“It’s alright.” He figured she must have just forgotten that he had to learn the rules just like everyone else. He actually didn’t mind her reminding him that he could do that though. He just looked at her and smiled. He thought that maybe having a pet in the family might make him and the rest of his siblings a bit happier.

He looked at Crumbs’ kennel while thinking before making a decision. “I think we should head to the cat room,” he calmly said. He liked hanging out with the cats even if they did sleep most of the day. He liked looking at the kittens because they were so cute and playful. "So, ready whenever you are." He was ready whenever she was. He smiled at her again. He really couldn’t stop smiling at her. Maybe he had a little crush on her, but he would never tell her that because he knew that she had a boyfriend. He was fine with them just staying friends.

Caitlyn returned his smile. She always liked it when people smile: it was better than being mad, or having tears fall down your face when you are sad. "Okay, I'm ready."

[/color] she replied. Taking one last look at Crumbs (who whined because they were leaving), Caitlyn walked towards the door, she opened it, and made Milo was following her, too.

When they got to the cat room, it was really quiet, except for the fans that were going. While Caitlyn loved dogs more, she had room in her heart for cats as well, and loved some of the cats here. Except, a lot of them still had their claws, and Caitlyn always hated putting them back in. But, it was always a treat when they played or sat in her lap. She looked at Milo. "You can take one out if you want."[/color] she said, giving him another smile.
