Sam had sent out a tweet a few hours ago telling her fans who played any instruments to come down to the recreation area and play with her on the stage they had for outdoor concerts. image.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/245938/245938,1222093203,2/stock-photo-outdoor-stage-17773717.jpg She wanted these young people, people pretty close to her age, to have an opportunity to hang out, play music, and let other people experience their talents. If Sam's fame factor helped these kids become more successful, her life was complete. For her, it wasn't about the fame; it was about using her fame to make changes and help people live better lives. Plus, Sam had been quite bored laying around her cottage and her fans were the most fun to hang out with anyway.
At first when she had arrived at the stage, there were only a few fans with guitars and one girl who looked around 16 who was tugging around a huge cello that looked too big for her. Sam smiled at all of them, shook their hands, and took any pictures they asked with her. They were so excited that Sam had sent the tweet out and had tons of suggestions of songs to play as a group. Making sure the two bodyguards that always followed her around were on the two sides of the stage, Sam got up on the stage with the group of girls and started fiddling around with her acoustic guitar.
After they discussed a few ideas, Sam started to play the beginning notes of "You Belong With Me" and the rest of the fans joined in.
"You're on the phone with your girlfriend ‒ she's upset,
She's going off about something that you said
'Cause she doesn't get your humor like I do.
They looked like they were having so much fun. Sam was so happy to see the young girl playing cello, rocking out to her song and singing along with the other girls around her. She saw another group of fans start walking towards them with a little girl who had to be around 7 years old. Complete with pink sparkly guitar, this little girl looked like she was ready to play. She was so cute. Sam waved the little girl up on stage and had her sit down right next to her with her cute little guitar.
"I'm in the room ‒ it's a typical Tuesday night.
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like.
And she'll never know your story like I do.
But she wears short skirts
I wear t-shirts
She's cheer captain
And I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time."
All Sam wanted from this was for these people to have some fun, especially if they were having a bad day. She loved her fans and her one goal was to make people smile at everything she did. The smile on the face of the little girl next to her was enough to make all of the crap Sam had been going through worthwhile.
"If you could see
That I'm the one
Who understands you.
Been here all along.
So, why can't you see ‒
You belong with me,
You belong with me?"
They spent the rest of the song jamming out and trying cool new things on their guitars, Sam letting all of these girls have their time to shine. She giggled when people started dancing around on the grass in front of the stage and she got chills as everyone that was around the stage started singing her song in unison.
