ever since chris had met karen he had been wanting to know her number, to know her address, to take her out on a date and maybe even know more about her. it wasn't exactly a love at first sight thing. chris doesn't even believe in that... at least not anymore. chris was never the one to show affection nor have love as the number one priority in life. chris didn't believe in love ever since he saw the girl he used to love with all his heart again. chris didn't even think about dating at all. all he ever thought was his job. though, he wasn't a workaholic. he just enjoyed the danger and the thrill. it was the only reason why he even got in his job. it was the reasons why he wanted to be a secret agent. only his family knew about it. at least his siblings did. he never said anything else to the everdeenies and to their four parents. he doesn't really trust them. he has a love-hate relationship with all of his family members anyway. if he blew his cover, he would probably be fired and he wouldn't want that. especially now, its his only excuse to be in the hospital all the time. his excuse to see karen. just like on their first meeting. chris had just been from a 'mission'. it had gotten out of hand and he had been shot with a lot of scars. karen was one of the nurses who took care of him. he didn't really care at first about her but he wasn't rude either. he was just simply hardheaded, he insisted that he could get out of the hospital and that he was fine. karen didn't allow it though. she took care of him and she was different from all the other girls. that's what made chris attached to her. though, she was hard to get. she wasn't telling her number or any information. it gave chris the challenge at the same time, it made chris even more attracted to her. she was just sweet and she wouldn't let a guy fool her. she wasn't like those whores who crave for attention. she wasn't like amber. chris was always making up excuses to be in the hospital. once, he had fooled her that he had a big cut on his arm just to have her at his house. chris was that desperate. he actually cared about her and she's one of the few people he actually doesn't become rude to. his siblings didn't even escape his attitude. he just kept pissing them off except for madi cause she's honestly innocent and the youngest. though arnisha and aiden were already used to his attitude. it was their sibling bonding at times. but to all honesty, chris doesn't give any other attention to other girls. sometimes he's really rude to them. he doesn't even care about them unless he has to for his work... unlike to karen. when chris found out she was in the hospital, he actually showed her care. he was actually worried. it was quite ironic, though. chris always used to step into the same hospital he's in now, to be healed by karen. but today? it was a different matter. he's stepping inside the hospital to see how karen is. to see if she's okay. it had been the opposite in a way. he just didn't get why she would cut. she was perfect. he didn't had anything with him at the hospital though. he wasn't going to be cliche with flowers. at least not now. maybe in another visit. he just wore his simple clothes and walked to the receptionist, "what room is karen fray in?" he asked. the people around the hotel had seen him around a lot. and he always demanded 'miss fray' to heal his wounds so the receptionist didn't even hesitate to give the room number. "thanks." he said with a nod and went to the lift or elevator of the hospital. he pressed a button then waited. he tapped his fingers to his side, he was alone in the lift but he wasn't really afraid. he had faced rather more gruesome real life killing than to be afraid of ghosts. besides, he was already 25. "ding!" the elevator ticked and the doors opened. chris got out and looked at the room numbers... 103....104...105...106... and then there it was, room 107. chris knocked first and had his hand on the door knob and slowly opened the door and peeked inside. indeed there was, karen janiya fray. chris let out a small smile, "look who's in the hospital bed...surprisngly, it isn't me." he had a friendly smirk on his face as he closed the door.

Motionless. She laid there breathing and opened her eyes only time to time and fade back to sleep. It was so peaceful for once. She had realized it too long ago that if she wanted to be in peace, she had to let go. Let go of life itself. She grew up with scars and bruises. It wasn't a normal childhood at all. Her father wasn't just a drunkard but an abusive man, who had murdered her little brother in front of her eyes and her mother still chose to forgive him for the murder of her son. The reason was that her mother didn't wanted another kid and tried aborting her baby but failed, so that resulted in his birth and she never treated him with love. so when karen's murdered him in anger, her mother made them all keep it as a secret and forget about it. Karen couldn't . She loved her little brother. She could have stopped it from happening but she didn't. And then her father started beating all of them and trying to kill them. At last her mother decied to involve the police into the matter and demanded divorce. Her father was furious and he attacked them, trying to kill them but Karen had attacked her father with a glass bottle on his head which made him dizzy and gave Karen and her mother along with her other siblings to run away from the house. They ran and kept running and never stopped. Her father was always looking for them which made them move from city to city but he won't stop. He always found a way to find them so Karen's mother kept moving from one place to another every now and then just to keep herself and her kids safe. Lately they had moved to L.A and Karen took up the job of a nurse. she grew up cleaning the wounds of her family members and now the patients in the hospital but the irony is, she'd heal the wounds of others, but for herself, she'd cut herself new wounds open every now and then with a blade because the pain made her feel better. Blade was her best friend in such dark times but last night, even the blade didn't make her feel better and she ended up cutting her veins, in order to suicide. She was fed up of the life she lived. Death was only an escape. She couldn't bear the past memories haunt her down every second of her life. Her mind was going through all these thoughts when she heard the door open and her eyes fell open gently. It was a very familiar voice. Christopher. Blonde hair and brown eyes. He was such a gorgeous guy. She almost smiled hearing what he said. It was true. For once it wasn't him in hospital injured, instead it was Karen. Christopher always found ways to get injured and demanded to be taken care by Karen. how did you know? she finally spoke. It was so weird how he had all kinds of information, even her whereabouts, whereas she's been trying to keep her name, history, almost everything hidden so that her father couldn't reach her. did you break a bone or two again purposely to meet me and found out that I needed to be taken care more than anyone?

being a secret agent was something christopher never thought of doing but it was no doubt the perfect job for him. aside from getting the adrenaline rush he wanted, he had access to all the information he wanted. he could also track or easily get information to a certain person's whereabouts. and these perks are indeed the reason why he knew and why karen fray was in the hospital. christopher knew that karen was the type of person who doesn't like to give information about herself. if he was going to be honest, he knows almost everything about karen fray already. at least, her records. but of course, he plays it out and keeps asking her anyway. he actually has her number saved on his phone already. christopher also knows that she's been moving from one place to another for a long time now and also knows about her dead brother. but he never asks about it because aside from he would get questioned and caught, he knew that karen would probably get furious at him. who wouldn't? if he wasn't a secret agent and he found out some person had been creeping about his personal life, he'd be in rage. although he wasn't completely sure if that's how karen would react. comparing chris and karen, chris was the more hot headed. besides, if he slips and get caught, he would lose two things that makes his life 'worth living' - his job and karen fray. although thinking about it, he doesn't mind telling karen about his job someday. but for now, he doesn't want to risk anything. it wasn't that he didn't trust karen but its part of his job not to reveal his profession. and even though he's head over heels with karen, he's not entirely sure where it would carry him. everything would fall into place when the right time comes, and that includes telling karen everything. as of now, he's ready to be in the shadow and protect karen fray. chris smirked at karen's reaction and smiled at her. he shrugged and sat on the stool beside her bed, "I called the hospital, saying I broke my knee," he started saying and pat his knee a bit but of course, its just an alibi. but the funny thing is, before knowing about karen being checked in the hospital he was actually thinking of doing his little story. "I asked for you, but they said you were checked in the hospital... as a patient." chris chuckled. at first, chris thought it was some joke but then he couldn't doubt his 'sources'. "so here I am, visiting you. concerned and laughing at the irony at the same time." he smirked.
