Aaron was just having one of those crappy, 'nothing-at-all-is-going-right-for-me', the kind where, from the second you wake up, the world throws as much crap as it can at you in the bulk of 24 hours. It had started with him waking up late for school, developed on to his bathroom being hogged, making him even later, spreading to a text from his dear girlfriend that made him certain when he finally got to school there was an argument waiting for him, though he had no idea what it would revolve around. After quite a public spat over lunch in the cafeteria with Sadie things were just rolling down hill, a bad grade from his afternoon class, getting stuck sat behind the kid with IBS in last period, getting held back to 'talk' about the fact his brother hadn't been attending school, like that was his fault or his problem. When he finally escaped he made for the beach, knowing all to well that if he went home the cycle of issues would continue in the form of his big mad family.

Throwing his back back to the ground, followed by his own body on the quietest part of the beach he knew, the 17 year old boy just sat for a moment, his elbows resting on his bent knees as his brown eyes scanned over the distant horizon. With a sigh he unlocked his phone and text the only person he thought could possibly cheer him up and make this mess of a day a little bit more bearable. "Hey you, how would you feel about joining your favorite, fluffy haired friend at the beach? (: you know you wanna. But please god don't mention where I am to Sade, I can't deal with round 2 right now. " he hit send and the message went from his phone to Serena's. Of all the people in the world, Serena was the one person who knew him best, well with the exception of Sadie. He had known her since she was born and they had grown up together in the same way he had with Sadie, the only difference being the small age gap that never seemed to make a difference with Aaron being the biggest kid alive half the time, a fact made worse when he hung out with his girlfriends little sister. She was probably the sweetest person he knew and it was near impossible not to smile with her around, that was what he needed at that moment in time, someone to put a smile on his face for the first time that day, which was a very rare thing indeed, Aaron being the relatively happy, optimistic type. With that he just sat and waited, hoping she would answer his plea.

It wasn't long that when Serena had gotten home from school, her phone went off. A smile was slapped across her face when she saw it was a text from Aaron. "Sure! I'll be there shortly! =)" she typed before pushing send, and when proceeded to go back outside, not telling her mom where she would be heading off too (although she told Sadie that she would be at the beach). She knew Sadie would want to know why she was going to the beach, and if she did, then Serena would have to lie to her because she was all about keeping promises she made to other people. She figured that Sadie and Aaron had their many splats, and Serena, even though she had a massive crush on him, felt sad to see them fight sometimes.

When she got to the beach, she scanned the beach for Aaron, and when she saw him (his hair was kind of a dead give-away), her smile turned into a grin. She almost ran towards him, and when she got to him, she sat down next to him. "Hey, my fluffy-haired friend! What's up?"

she asked. Serena was probably one of the bubbly, upbeat people around, and she could light up the room with her smile and personality, and she felt awesome when she could do that. And she knew by reading Aaron's text that he needed a pick-me-up, and Serena was just the girl to do it, too.

It wasn't all that often that Aaron and Saide fought, nor did they have huge arguments but little niggly spats between the two happened more than Aaron would have liked over the stupidest things. Not that he though she was all to blame for all of them, in fact, he was the one who made them much worse than they should have been thanks to his pride and his stubbornness when it came to him backing down whether he was right or not. They never lasted long though, they would be back to being their normal, inseparable selves again by the next morning at the latest. Aaron couldn't actually remember the last time him and Sadie had had a big argument that was actually about something worth arguing over. He would no doubt be around at her's by the time the sun had gone down, with no sign they'd had their little tiff at all. Still, it was nice to get a little time away from her to let her cool off a little.

A slight hint of a smile snuck onto his lips at Serena's reply and he sat quietly taking in the relaxing noises of the beach before he heard Serena coming up behind him. Just at the sight of her happy little face sent a steady smile onto his lips "You forgot the word favorite" he joked before patting the sand next to him for her to sit with him. "Oh you know, the same old, I'm a terrible boyfriend blah blah blah. And I've just had one of those days." he sighed yet still with a small smile on his lips. She really did have a contagious happiness about her.

She sat down next to him, and she gave him another smile. "That too. You'll always be my favorite furry hiared friend."

Since she was born, Serena could easily call Aaron her friend, and possibly a big brother figure when she needed some advice on things her girl friends or Sadie wouldn't understand. It was wrong to have this crush on him, and she knew Sadie would be mad if she found out, and wouldn't talk to her forever: that girl could hold grudges forever. Despite it being nice out, Serena shivered, just thinking about it.

As she listened to him, Serena bit her lower lip. "Sadie was just being her mean old self: it's a known fact that she's crazy about you: everyone could see it."

Aaron was so busy with his own little life and so used to the relationship he had with Serena, that he had no idea she had any kind of feelings for him at all. It didn't seem it was just him blind to it though, it wasn't like Sadie had a clue either but the subject had been brought up by one of his friends who had seen him and Serena together, to which Aaron had just laughed in said friends face. It wasn't that he didn't think Serena wasn't pretty, he wasn't blind; and he loved the girl to pieces, but he had never seen her that way before. Then again, he had never seen Sadie that way until 3 years ago after knowing her all his life. It was weird how time changed how you could see someone, before getting together, the idea of Sadie being more than Aaron's best friend seemed absurd but now he couldn't imagine a life where they weren't together. People on the outside never really got Aaron and Serena's relationship, how they were so very close when she was his sisters boyfriend but like with Sadie, Aaron couldn't imagine his life without Serena in it, the prospect of such a life was boring to say the least, and a little miserable without the light she brought to his (and everyone else's) lives.

"I should hope so" Aaron laughed nudging her side lightly. With a sigh Aaron nodded in agreement to the whole thing about Sadie just being in a bad mood and everyone knowing she was crazy about him. To be completely honest, a lot of the time what was what they bickered about, the fact that she wanted to spend time with him and him wanting to hang out with his school friends and spending so much time at the courts playing basketball. "I know, I know. I'm crazy about her too, but sometimes she seriously drives me crazy too" he stifled a small laugh behind a smirk. "Yeah, you keep thinking your getting to the end and then it's like 'nope, more torture, you've not had enough yet.'" he rolled his eyes, that certainly was the way he would describe his day today. "You coming to keep me company has made it significantly better though" he smiled softly, meaning every word he said with all his heart.

It was a good thing that Aaron or Sadie didn't know she had feelings for Aaron, otherwise she would be in hot water. Just thinking that Sadie would be mad at her was enough to make her see that it was dangerous, and she knew that Aaron wouldn't like her back, so what was the point of liking a guy when he was already taken? It was so bad to like taken guys because you never knew what their girlfriends would do to you, and she knew that Sadie would make her life miserable, and she didn't want Aaron would be caught in the middle of their splats because he didn't need anymore drama. So, that's why she would keep her secret crush under wraps. She just keeps thinking how bad things would turn out, but how could she when she sees him practically everyday at school?

Serena laughed too. Aaron could always make her feel better when she was down, and by the looks of it, she could tell she was making him feel better. "And once Sadie cools down, you'll guys will be back to be a cute couple. I know it."

It wasn't like Sadie and Aaron were the popular couple, but they did look good together, and were cute. "I feel the same way some days."

Though Aaron had never had feelings for Serena in a romantic way, he was still well aware that she was a beautiful girl and he had even mentioned it on occasion, not around Sadie of course, seemed safer not to though he meant nothing at all by it. Had he known about Serena's feelings he would have kept comments like that to himself, he wouldn't want to lead her on with little false hope but at the same time, maybe he would have. It was no secret to anyone that the boy liked attention and what better attention could you get than someone wanting to be with you. It was hard to tell what he might do but one thing was for sure, he wouldn't let Sadie know, not if he could help it. If she knew he doubted he would ever be trusted around Serena on his own and he knew how much of a rift it would cause between the 2 of them and the last thing he would want to do is ruin the closeness the two girls had with each other.

Aaron nodded once again "Sometimes I wish Sade could be a little more like you" he said not even thinking about what he meant by that. "More than likely, but enough about her and me and our drama. What's been going on in your life?" he wanted to get off the subject of Sadie for the both of them but mainly for him because he was still in a bit of a bad mood with her since, in his mind, he hadn't done a thing wrong. As the sun edged closer to the far off horizon the wind seemed to be picking up and getting colder making Aaron instinctively put his arm around Serena without a second thought pulling her a little closer to him to keep her warm "I could have picked somewhere a little warmed to feel sorry for myself." he laughed looking for the waves as they lapped up the beach to her face and then back again.

Serena smiled when she heard that Sadie could be more like her. "Is it weird that I want her to be a little more nicer? I mean, I don't want her to change completely, but I just wish she could be a little nicer."

she said. She knew Sadie could be sweet when she wanted to be, and it showed because she always nice whenever she was around Serena. But, it made her sad that her sister could be super-mean, like their mom, and it was clear that most of the time, their mom would side with Sadie, and while she could talk to the both of them, it was hard when they were both together, so she was thankful that she had Aaron in her life to go to if things get rough.

Her life was pretty much boring, but no one needed to know that. She and her family were middle class, so chances are, they couldn't take trips to exotic places, or get new clothes whenever they feel like it. In fact, half of her check she made at Delia's went to getting Bailey, her cat, and Bailey was probably one of the few precious things she owned. "I don't really have that much to say: who wants to hear that Bailey coughed up a hair-ball in front of my mom, and she screamed? No one."

[/color] When she realized that she said this to Aaron, she blushed a little bit. "Except you, I guess."[/color] When he put his arm around her, Serena put her head on his shoulder, and it was almost like a reflex. She picked up her head from his shoulder, and smiled at him. "It's okay. I like it."[/color] she responded. It always seemed nice during the day, but when it comes to be night-time, then it started to get cold.

A small, stifled laugh left Aaron's lips at what Serena said "I think it might be a little odd if you didn't wish she was a little nicer. I mean, don't get me wrong, most of the time she is nice, but that mean streak in her is pretty scary. If I weren't so stubborn she'd probably walk all over me" he laughed, it was stupid how much him and Sadie butted heads just because he refused to back down, sometimes he shouldn't, when he was in the right and she was wrong but with both of them always needing to be a winner, their silly arguments could escalate relatively quickly until no one won and they both just had to take a time out. The argument today hadn't really been one of those, Aaron hadn't had the energy or the drive to fight back with her today thanks to the already crappy day he'd been having which apparently didn't help either, then it just made him seem like he didn't care, or so Sadie thought. He really could never win if you looked at it that way. Aaron knew that Serena sometimes had trouble turning to her family when they were together. He had never really said it but, Aaron had never really liked their mom much, not for any real, specific reason, just something about her, she was schemy and manipulative from what he saw of her, she made him feel uneasy whenever she was around. It was that reason, and that he cared for Serena that made him want to be the one there for her when she was having trouble talking to the other people in his life, he would have liked to think he was a good listener and that she didn't just come to him because he was her last option but also because she wanted to.

Aaron pulled a slighty disgusted mock face at her little story about her cat sticking his tongue out a little and crinkling up his nose before she reached the part about it being on her mother and he started to laugh "Disgusting as that may be, I would have loved to have seen than, your mothers face must have been a picture to behold" he said still laughing. Sat there with his arm around her, her head resting on his shoulder, it should have felt odd, awkward but it was anything but, it just felt comfortable, so much so that Aaron didn't find him thinking about it at all. He smiled softly as he looked back into her eyes when she told him she didn't mind, she looked so pretty at that moment, the light, cool wind blowing her hair about, her eyes looking right into his, no one else around them. He brushed a stray hair from her face and before he could even think about what he was doing he closed the small space between their faces and pressed his lips to hers.

Yeah, it was odd, but Serena didn't want her family to change, because while her mom and Sadie could be mean, they had their nice moments too, but people never got to see that, and only saw what was displayed in front of them, and that just made her even sadder. The worse part of it was how everytime the girls had someone over (especially of Sadie brought Aaron home), their mother would make their guests so uncomfortable that they had to leave, so the girls always had to be at the other person's house or someplace else. "Maybe, but I don't want her to change completely. She can be a sweetheart when she wants to be."

Serena told him, the wind whipping her hair.

Serena laughed too. "It was: I should have taken a picture, but she would hate me if I did that."

[/color] she said, still laughing. She was glad that her mom agreed to let her keep Bailey. At first, she was shocked, because her mom wasn't the person who loved animals like Serena did. But, Bailey was like a best friend to her, and besides Aaron and Sadie, she told Bailey her problems, even if he couldn't talk or give advice. Her laughter came to a complete stop when she realized that everything had gotten quiet, and she kept looking at Aaron. Before she could do anything, they were kissing. It was always something she dreamt of, but never thought it could happen in real life.

In the three years Aaron and Sadie had been together he had never once cheated on her, never once been even close, despite his tenancy to be a little stubborn he was practically the image of a perfect boyfriend so what was happening right at that moment was a colossal screw up on his part, and completely out of character. It couldn't even be because of their argument, they had had much worse arguments than the one that day, they'd been one 'breaks' from one another over the years, told each other how much they hated each other and never wanted to see each other again and still he had never kissed anyone in those times so why were his lips pressed against the wrong ones right now? Of course all of these thoughts were as far from his brain as possible at first, instead while he kissed Serena he was thinking about how different this was, but oddly not in a bad way, there was no thought in his head telling him to stop, telling him how bad and wrong this was, the only voice in his head was telling him to carry on. And he did, his hand gently brushed across her cheek to the back of her neck just where her hair ended. He was completely lost in the moment for a good 30 seconds before reality caught up with him.

Mind winning over matter, he forced himself to pull away and when he did, all of those rational thoughts rushed in like a dam in his brain had just been knocked down. What had he just done? Why the hell had he just done it? These were the first of a thousand questions that gushed through his mind all at once. This wasn't him. This wasn't something he would do, not to Sadie, not with Serena. Her damn sister. After a while of being lost in his own, wizzing thoughts he came back to the here and now of the reality, to Serena sat right there with him. What was he supposed to say to her? What was he supposed to say at all? "I... We... This... What the... Shit." yeah, he had nothing constructive to say at all. Made a change since everyone knew him as that guy who always had something to say.

Her mind told her it was wrong, and that Sadie would be mad, but...she didn't pull away fast enough. When you were kissing your sister's boyfriend, you were suppose to pull away, not kiss him back, and fully enjoy it when, in fact, it wasn't because somehow, your sister and mother would find out about it, and make your life a living nightmare, but Serena didn't care about that. Instead, she focused on what she and Aaron were doing, and while it did feel wrong, it felt right.

When they finally pulled away, it left Serena happy, excited, sadness, and anger: towards herself. She never wanted to betray her sister, and just a few seconds earlier, she was kissing her boyfriend. What was wrong with her? "I'm...I'm sorry."

she said quietly, scooting a little ways from him, so she couldn't look at him. While he did kiss her first, she would rather have Sadie be mad at her, and make her be the bad guy, because she was certain that Sadie wouldn't believe her, and would just believe Aaron instead.

In one stupid, rash action, Aaron was sure he had ruined everything, everything good in his life anyway, his life long friendship with Sadie and their relationship, he had messed up what he had with Serena, how could they go back to normal after that had just happened? And then there was the relationship his family had with their family, that was probably screwed too, why would any of the Parker family want to see or be friends with the people who had raised a boy who could screw up everything for everyone so royally. Once he was done thinking about how much he had screwed himself over he looked at Serena and realized it wasn't just his and her friendship he had just pissed all over but the one she had with her sister too, they were so close, best friends and once this story reached Sadie, their closeness was going to dissolve, he knew no matter how much he explained that it was all him, all his fault, Sadie would blame them both, hate them both. When his mind wandered to the subject of blame he finally realized that it hadn't just been him that did the kissing, he didn't doubt that this was his doing but he had now ordered his thoughts enough to wrap his head around the fact that Serena had kissed him back. Surely she should have pulled away and slapped him, well maybe not the slapping, he didn't think she had that in her, she was far too sweet, but wasn't she supposed to have stopped it before it could be anything?

Her voice brought him back to the moment on the beach again and out of his wild and scattered thoughts. He knew he had to organised his thoughts and his words now. "Dont. How was it your fault!?" he snapped it out more than he meant to, it wasn't because he was angry at her, not in anyway of the word, he was angry at himself. Furious. He softened his tone when talking again "Don't be silly, this was me. Don't you dare lay any blame on yourself." he almost pleaded with her. "Please." he went quiet again for a moment and he thought a little more "Maybe this doesn't have to be so bad though." it was almost like he was talking to himself "Sadie doesn't have to find out. We just go on, pretend it didn't happen. Then no one gets hurt." he knew as he said the words that it would be impossible to pretend it didn't happen, and that he was lying to himself about Sadie finding out, he knew she would, eventually someone would find out, and then everyone would know. It was more a wishful thinking than a good plan and he knew even if they did pull it off, things would never be the same, especially not with him and Serena.

She should have pulled away when she had the chance, but...she enjoyed it too much. A lot of girls (and guys) liked kissing forbidden loves, people who are taken, but while Serena did like it, she knew that it would cause major damage control, and when her family hears about it, she would likely be shunned out for sure, and she didn't know if she could take that. If she told her mom about it, chances are she would be mad, and will side with Sadie, because that's how it's always been. Sometimes, if not rarely, their mom would side with her whenever things got bad, but it was mostly Sadie. Always Sadie.

Serena bit her lower lip, and felt a tear roll down her cheek. What turned out to be a good day turned into the worse day of her life. When Aaron told her she shouldn't blame any of it on herself, she shook her head. "Do you realize what Sadie would do if she found out? She would kill me, and then bring me back to life, and kill me again! The bond we had will shatter, and I will be left without a best friend. And who knows what my mom will do to me because she always believes Sadie, and never me."
